Meet Peter Kadel - Ballroom Dance Instructor

Shouldn’t your Ballroom Dance Teacher be certified?

Peter Kadel FISTD, H.C. London and USA - Fellow, Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing, Highly Commended.  Ballroom Branch.

Peter has many years of ballroom dance teaching experience, was professionally trained in London by world-class champions, and is a highly commended fellow of the Imperial Society of Teachers of Ballroom Dancing. A former professional ballroom dancer and Pro-Am competitor, he has won numerous awards and produced many excellent ballroom dance students, from beginners to very advanced levels. Peter also has an extensive background in teaching Arthur Murray and Fred Astaire staff and students. He has successfully competed in Pro-Am ballroom dance competitions with his wife Carol Chen Kadel, who is a holder of the Gold Medal Test with the Imperial Society.

Peter has trained many professional dance teachers towards their Associates, Licentiate and Fellowship degrees in ballroom dancing. A certified trainer for professionals and amateurs, Peter has judged many ballroom dance competitions. He has been a guest-teacher in Bejjing, Shanghai and Qingdao (China), in Cuba, and in Germany.

Throughout the 80s, Peter coached U.S. and Canadian Ice Dance Teams out of Wilmington, Delaware. He taught Ballroom Dance classes at Temple University for over 10 years.

When Wolfgang Sawallisch was about to take over the position of conductor with the Philadelphia Orchestra and there was a welcoming party in his honor, Peter was asked to provide an exhibition of the Viennese Waltz.

Diversity and inclusiveness are values in which Peter believes strongly.  As merely one indication, former Pennsylvania Governor Bob Casey gave Peter the Inter-Ethnic Relations Award for his role in promoting Jewish-German relations.

Peter brings a knowledge of history and culture to his ballroom dancing instruction.  He is a graduate of Villanova and Temple Universities, and was a professor of German and of History at four local universities for 14 years.

An internationally known expert on the Viennese Waltz, Peter gives lectures on the subject.  He was on the Board of the Austrian-American Society of PA and was the Chair of the annual Johann Strauss Ball, a cultural and educational organization.

Peter teaches all Ballroom (Waltz, Foxtrot, Quickstep, Viennese Waltz and Tango) and Latin (Cha Cha, Rumba, Swing and Samba) dances in both International and American styles. He also teaches novelty dances such as Salsa,  Merengue,  Polka and Irish Waltz.

But of all Peter's qualifications, perhaps most important is his creativity.  Peter has choreographed Wedding Dances - First Dances for hundreds of wedding couples, and not one has been the same!
